Volvo Group has alerted employees that a cyber incident affecting its human resources software supplier, Miljödata, may have exposed personal information of some staff members.
The notification comes after Miljödata discovered a ransomware attack that began on August 20, 2025, and confirmed unauthorized access to employee records in early September.
Miljödata Ransomware Strike Affects Volvo HR
According to Volvo Group’s notice, Miljödata detected suspicious activity on August 23, 2025, and subsequently confirmed on September 2 that employee information had been compromised.
Volvo Group clarified that its own systems remained secure and that Miljödata operates as an independent vendor. The data potentially accessed includes first and last names along with Social Security numbers.
Upon learning of the incident, Volvo Group swiftly launched an inquiry in coordination with Miljödata to assess the breach’s full scope and nature.
